Let's Get Trendy Now!3 - Day 2: Sequins

Tiny plastic disc-shaped beads called sequins have recently seen a revival, notably since 4th August 2012 marked the first International Sequin Day! So how can we incorporate sequins on our projects that best showcase their reflective properties without being too overtly flashy?

1. Play around with sizes and colours.

By varying the colours and sizes of your sequins, you can create a playful and fun vibe to your layout like designer Laurie LaRiviere.

For more details on this project and a complete supply list, please visit Handmade by Laurie.

2. Use sequins in subtle shades for a classy understated elegance.

When the sequins blend in with the overall colour scheme of your project like designer Virginia Lu's card, the sparkle when the light hits, is particularly alluring.

For more details on this tag as well as a complete supply list, please visit Yes, Virginia.

3. Add some sequins for a celebratory vibe to your project.

Nothing says party like a bit of sparkle as seen in this fun bag by designer Angi Barrs.
For more details on this bag and a complete supply list, please visit Cokie Pop Paper.
4. Use sequins in pastels for a really sweet look.

The soft coloured sequins are an easy embellishment to reach for if you want to create a pretty card like designer Amy Tsuruta.
For more details on this card and the complete supply list, please visit Tsuruta Designs.

5.  Add a little interest to your project with a sprinkling of sequins.

Designer Julie Tucker-Wolek adds textural interest on her paper mache box with strategically placed sequins.
For more details on this box and a complete supply list, please visit The Tucker and Wolek Clan.

6. Make the sequins the "star" of the show.

Designer Virginia Lu coordinated her sequins to the colours on her tag but the viewer is immediately drawn to the row of sequins because of the shine and texture the sequins add.

For more details on this tag as well as a complete supply list, please visit Yes, Virginia.

6. Change the colour of the sequins to match your project.

Alcohol inks are a great way to "change" the colours of your sequins to coordinate with your project. Designer Yvonne Yam's sequins were originally silver in colour.

For more details on this layout and a complete supply list, please visit Do More With Less.
